Test Principle

Fix the printed specimen on the workbench. Wrap the friction head with standard friction paper. Select either 2LB (8.9N) or 4LB (17.8N) standard weight for loading. The motor drives the friction head to perform arc reciprocating friction motion. Both dry friction and wet friction test modes are available.

After the test:

  1. Observe the staining grade on the friction paper;
  2. Inspect ink layer wear and substrate exposure of the printed sample;
  3. Use a spectrodensitometer to measure ink density reduction and color difference ΔE, to quantitatively evaluate ink rub resistance and decolorization fastness.

Features

The national standard model adopts linear reciprocating motion, while this American standard tester uses arc reciprocating motion. Its motion track fully complies with ASTM D5264 and generates valid test data for US standards.

  1. Dual load options: 2LB / 4LB weights to meet various ink test requirements for packaging;
  2. 4 adjustable rubbing speeds, supports dry rub and wet rub tests;
  3. Large counting range: up to 999,999 cycles, auto stop function, microcomputer control;
  4. Suitable for quality inspection of cartons, food packaging and labels exported to North America.

Compliance Standards

ASTM D5264, TAPPI T830. These are two core standards for the North American packaging & printing industry, widely used for carton and color box export orders to the United States.
